The task of a site clearing team is to assess and/or inspect the property and then set a clearing plan in place based on the property and the potential risks and dangers that are at play. The correct equipment must be used for clearing tasks and must only be operated by individuals who are licensed and experienced to do so. Site clearing teams have often stumbled across interesting finds during the clearing process and 2015 presented some scary scenarios for building and site preparation teams.
Just last month, a site clearing team in Cambodia stumbled across a rather unnerving find. The excavator driver and his supervisor were marking out an area of land for clearing when they discovered unexploded ordnance (UXOs) in the form of two RPG shells. It came as an even greater surprise to officials that this was not the first time this particular site clearing team had discovered dangerous items while clearing a site. They had in the past also come across rusted ammunition, handguns, rifles and even live RPG B40 shells. Read more on this story in the KHMER Times.
Another disturbing find during a site clearing project was in Swaziland in November this year. A construction’s site clearing and preparation team have been working on clearing a piece of land in order to extend the fire station in Siteki. While carrying out their duties, the team came across a human skull and bones. Foul play is suspected as the land being cleared had never been used as a graveyard.
